E18- Tim Allen: The Coaching Genius Who Made Tassie Footy History
Tim Allen is a living legend of Tasmanian football. He started his career at Bendigo in country Victoria before being recruited to East Devonport as a ruckman-forward in the late 70s. From there, his impact on Tassie footy became the stuff of folklore. He coached Queenstown to back to back premierships in 1983/1984, Penguin to the 1985 premiership, and famously led East Devonport to the 1988 flag after an extraordinary last-quarter comeback that people still talk about today.
Known as a tough, uncompromising player and an inspirational coach, Tim’s sides always found that little bit extra under his leadership. He later became a much-loved Vice President and club legend at East Devonport, leaving behind a coaching and leadership record that stacks up against anyone in Tasmania. Simply put, Tim Allen’s name is etched into the Tassie footy story forever.
